We will be showcasing a few of the homegrown dishes that mom and grandma used to whip up for dinner at home.
And lace it with pinch of nostalgia and a dash of comfort.
BUT WITH A TWIST....!
We intend to celebrate the best of Singaporean cuisine together with the best of the British summer (no not the rain silly...)! In particular the BRITISH SUMMER PRODUCE! YAY!
That means YES to fresh peas, aubergines, artichokes and NO to potatoes, codfish, snowflakes, sleet or delayed planes at Heathrow thanks to half inch of snow.
On the menu we intend to have:
Braised Soy Fennel Pork Belly with English Lettuce
Sambal Prawn Aubergines/ Beet Leaves
Yellowy Yellowy Deep Fried Mackerel/ Sardine
Mommy's Watercress Soup
Hainanese Pork Chop with Heritage Tomatoes
(and generally whatever we manage to find in the farmers market so this menu might have slight changes as to whatever inspires us that day... oooooh......... mysterious.... )
LAST BUT NOT LEAST this time we're again teaming up with the gorgeous Shu of the omgifyoudontknowthishave youbeenlivingunderarock awesome recipe compendium MUMMYICANCOOK WEBSITE. Her site probably holds more Singaporean recipes than The Annual Convention of Cool Grandmas. Yeah. Really.
