As far as we know Urban Foraging in a Day is a unique course – combining wild food foraging in the middle of London, with a wild food cookery demonstration and delicious wild food lunch.
Under the guidance of wild food expert, Nick Saltmarsh, you will discover the abundance of wild food in the city and learn the dos and don’ts of urban foraging. Nick will take us around his local area in Stoke Newington where in the May we’ll find wild herbs and edible plants and and in September we will find berries including elder, blackberries, hawthorn, rosehip, wild apples; if we’re lucky some mushrooms; and other green wild foods*.
After a morning in the wilds of North London, we’ll take our finds back to cookery teacher, Anna Colquhoun, The Culinary Anthropologist, who will demonstrate how to cook and preserve our finds and provide delicious wild food lunch with wine. We will also get to taste some of Anna’s legendary homemade liquors!
You will take home some of the hedgerow jelly you have helped Anna to make, a pack of tips and recommendations for foraging in towns and cities, as well as some inspiring recipes.
