The first Russian Revels Anna Karenina Dinner in Mari Vanna sold out quicker than we could say Tolstoy and taking the growing waiting list in mind Mari Vanna has decided to take the Anna Karenina infatuation further- whether you are still prepared to admit that Keira looks rather fetching in fur coats, or not
- and invite the Revels back for an even grander 19th century affair!
An extra sparkling dinner in awe of Anna, Russian love of drama and the cupidity for all things French.
On Monday the 15th of October at 7pm Mari Vanna is inviting you to experience the food and ambiance of Karenina's tempestuous times in our gorgeous setting of chandeliers, lacy dollies and fading black and white photographs.
Refined coziness par excellence as The Russian Revels exclaim!
The inspiration for food is Tolstoy's novels and the craze that engulfed Russians for France and its culture at the time. With their own Russian Revels twist bien sur, such as (but not limited to):
Zakuski on a train:
Crudités with French sauces
(walnuts and rusk sauce & Elena Malokhovets Tartar dip*)
RR gilded pickles
Hearts on French toast (paté of chicken livers and beef hearts and cognac)
Salt of the Earth herring paté
The original Olivier salad with cray fish, pheasant and home-made mayonnaise*
Intense beef bouillon for those in the whirlpool of love,
with little beef and parsley klyotski
Matelotte of Pollock with red wine sauce
served with bloody red, beetroot and carrot dauphinoise
(or Little ‘doves’ of cabbage stuffed with buckwheat, mushrooms and sourcream)
Flaming cake with lemon custard - Tolstoy family's recipe
Coffee and Truffles
As always, there will be little games to get the party going - trains, gloves of mesdames, powder and a frenchified Russian may just be involved!
The Mari Vanna screen will be showing an Anna Karenina special and Radio Gagarin’s Penny Metal will play an inspired French-Russian instrumental dinner set.
Your best silks and furs are very much encouraged. Gentlemen with suitably Tolstoy-ian facial hair - real or not so much - will get a shot of vodka from the hosts of the night.
The dinner is £51.15 (plus £3.85 booking fee), which will include a lovely welcoming cocktail, a generous 5-course meal with dessert wine and fabulous entertainment throughout.
30 seats only so book away!
