In this event we have decided to celebrate one of Italy's most popular November feast days: "San Martino".
Getting together to eat chestnuts and more importantly taste the new red wine of the year called "Vino Novello" one of the must-dos on the 11th November every year in most Italian homes.
Vino Novello is a light, fruity, red wine produced throughout Italy and the grapes are not crushed but are fermented using whole grapes, allowing for only a minimum percentage of sugar to be converted into alcohol, ensuring the wine has a smooth, fruity flavor.
Italy first started making Vino novello in the 1970s and every year Vino Novello is officially released for sale on November 6 and the tradition says that the last day to consume it is
“I Giorni della Merla”, the days of the blackbird, said to be the coldest day of the year (29th-31st January).

Absolutely fabulous, yes!
I'm pleased I booked my place at Stairway Kitchen on Nov 11th, The 'San Martino' event. I spent a lovely evening!
The atmosphere was nice and warm. And nice and warm were the people at the table. I enjoyed the conversations, and lots of fun!
The food was gorgeous, generous, luscious, and beautifully displayed in the plates.
I could not believe how versatile the chesnuts can be and I LOVE chestnuts!
The stuff was great! They are all real experts in welcoming people and making great food for them!
I'll definitely come back!
Absolutely the stairway to the joys of fine food

It was the first time for me to take part in a supper club event and I wanted to know what it is like if people meet to share this food experience in someone's home. And it turned out to be a really funny evening with relaxed people who love good food and were up for a laugh.
In fact, the food was just gorgeous. We started our journey of the Italian autumn with the Novello that reminded us of a sunny vineyard. The course I will remember is the chestnut gnocchi in Taleggio cheese fonue. Whether it is Italian or French as the chef Stefano put forward doesn't really matter: the fondue was light and tasty. The dinner was rounded up with Italian coffee and a selection of fine liqueurs.
The welcoming atmosphere of the hosts made this event a very remarkable evening indeed.
Thank you, guys!
