You don't need to be able to chop at chef speeds to cook well, but learning how to use knives to their best effect in the kitchen will massively boost your cooking, making it more effective and enjoyable.
You’ll learn how to select, use and maintain the correct knife from the basic cooks’ knife set including sharpening, chopping, filleting and other fundamental techniques, as well as working with fish.
By the end of the course you’ll be able to select and use various knives safely and efficiently. Throughout you’ll also be cooking up a delicious meal which you then get to enjoy. If you want to sharpen your knife skills then this course is for you.

LOCATION: Studio 8, 6 Hornsey Street, The Islington Studios, London N78GR.
We are a 2 minutes walk from Holloway Tube station (2 stops from Kings Cross), 10 minutes walk from Highbury and Islington station and 7 minutes walk from Calendonian station.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: We will provide everything you need for the class including aprons, all ingredients and packaging if you wish to take away the dishes you have prepared. Please allow at least 30 minutes to feast on your creations in our dining room afterwards.
CLASS SIZE: Our classes usually have less than 8 guests. If the class has more than 8 guests, there will be additional chefs on hand to lead the class. The maximum guests per class is 15.

I chose th course via Jenus after positive reviews. A bit of a foody, the course was a birthday present from my children who took pity on my attempts to cut an onion like a chef. I had little idea what to expect but I had a really good time on the course. The welcome from Jen and the team was warm and Andrew was enthusiastic as chef. We got straight down to learning knife safety, much of it common sense and then to cutting ,chopping and dicing a wide range of different vegetables . The aim was for us to prepare our own lunch,which we duly did to enjoyable effect. I particularly enjoyed Andrew's cooking tips as a context for what we were doing.
Above all I enjoyed learning how to fillet a whole fish and to my amazement managed to complete the task with success. Lunch was enjoyable and I left feeling it had been a very worthwhile occasion. Suffice to say that I did not look at the look at all from start to finish!
Thank you to Jen and Andrew and the team. It is certainly worth supporting what they are doing. The contents of the 'doggy bags' I returned home with were hailed as a triumph.

My partner and I attended the above course yesterday and I had no idea what to expect other than what I had read on the website.
The studio where the class takes place is immaculate with great facilities. Our welcome was warm and genuine from both Nicola and Andrew the Chef. Andrew has a passion for cooking which is infectious and engaging so all our questions were covered and more. Not only did we practise knife care and techniques but we cooked a meal that was easy to replicate whilst showing flare.
I have come away buzzing as has my partner. We came home and cooked the dinner we had learned that day for our children (who ate everything). I am in no doubt that I will be attending future courses that Jenius Social run and I can recommend them without hesitation.
