‘Sara provided us with such a knowledgeable, interesting and down-to-earth summary of both the art of keeping chickens and bees… The kids were singing the praises of keeping bees and chickens to anyone who would listen on the journey back home….. We would highly recommend the course…’Julia, 29 May 2013 (after a chickens & bees family course)

Sara, a member of the Ealing & District Bee Keeping Association, the London Bee Keepers Association and the British Bee Keeping Association, invites you to come and meet the honey bees her urban back garden…
You will be welcomed with drinks and home-made honey & oat cookies then introduced to the joys of keeping bees! Our bee keeping began with our first training course at River Cottage in Dorset in May 2009. We’ve had honey bees here at Hen Corner since August 2011 and were delighted to win First Prize for our London Honey at the National Honey Show in October 2012.
Our time together will give a basic introduction to urban bee keeping. You will learn about the bees, the role of the beekeeper, and how they make us honey.
We start by watching the bees behind glass in an Observation Hive, then discover the tools and equipment needed for keeping bees, finally, from a safe distance all guests can watch Sara return the bees to the hive and hopefully bring back some honey for us all to taste.
If you decide that bee keeping is for you, we recommend that you link up with your local bee keeping association and consider doing the British Bee Keeping Association Basic Assessment Course.
