Live Do Now can't recommend A Grape Night in Highly Enough!
Live Do Now attended in November 2012,
reviewed on 3 December 2012
‘A Grape Night in’ is one of Live Do Now’s best finds this year, a pop-up wine tasting club run by Laura and Kiki, two friends whose enthusiasm and passion for wine permeates through each unique event they run. The duo will host tasting sessions in the comfort of your own home which they will tailor to a theme of your choice, or you can book onto one of their events, hosted regularly in a private room at The Rookery in Clapham Common and Seven At Brixton in Brixton Market.
Live Do Now went along to the latest event held at the Rookery for a five course food and wine tasting based around the theme ‘2012 a year in review’. Each of the five wine and food pairings served were linked to a topic associated with 2012, and it was up to the 8 of us at the table to guess the topic from a set of clues before the course was served. For example, the second course was based on the Olympics, and we tasted a delicious Greek wine (Gaia ‘Wild Ferment’ Assyrtiko 2009) paired with endive, pear, walnut and Roquefort salad. After each course we all rated the pairing out of ten, to give us an overall winner at the end of the night (El Maestro Sierra sherry with Chocolate tart and peanut butter ice cream!).
All in all ‘A Grape Night in’ delivers a fantastic night – fun, relaxed and a great way to make new friends. Plus it is surprisingly cheap with prices starting at £19 pp. There are no more public events in 2012 but you can book in for 2013, or get in touch if you would like to organise a private event at your home.
